Museum in class. Interdisciplinary approach to the integration of the museum in school/classroom environment.

The purpose of art is to wash away the dust of everyday life from our souls.

Pablo Picasso.

Some Intro

Museum education is a set of values, concepts, knowledge and practices, in order to develop the research approach and give the desire to learn more.

If the school and the museum are complementary in terms of learning, the specificity of each makes the child pass from the student's place to the visitor.

Creating a museum in a classroom; allows students time to provoke, perceive and exchange ideas as they are free to act, speak, touch, play, plan. All these actions create a need for them to learn.

This course is introducing participants to different ways of teaching and encouraging kids to express themselves creatively as well as work together as a team.

Students learn by observing, imitating, and watching their peers; they compare the different handling modes, sometimes choosing the one they prefer and waiting their turn to act.

Students learn by working together. Indeed, the student creates with others, this way is richer, but also the hardest for the student to find his place in the game of the project. The learner often looks at others before acting. Then he will contact his fclassmates to arrange the game and face them. Exchanging ideas and respecting are essential elements.

Participants will be involved in an active learning process combining personal experience and self expression in order to make this course the reason for a fresh start to new multiple ways of teaching art to children. Εxperiential and collaborative learning process, practical and theoretical learning activities will be the trigger of an innovative school.

By the end of this course participants will learn how to improve their own creative attitude, how to help kids express their feelings and thoughts as well as further themselves through the world of a museum. They will learn how to combine art theory and practice within the context of an innovative way of learning. What we are looking for is imagination, teamwork and creativity.
