Some Intro/Description
What is the art of scenography and from which areas it consists. What skills each of them requires for a successful outcome. Why these areas are important for the development of a child.
This course is introducing participants to different ways of teaching art to kids and why it is important for the development of their skills. The field of scenography which we are going to study extensively has to offer many activities that contribute to an integrated personality of a child.
It is based on a broad understanding of scenography and its ability to develop cognitive and practical skills such as direct decision-making, problem solving, empathy, space perception, development of fine mobility, team collaboration, critical thinking, time management, leadership, negotiation & organization.
Participants will be involved in an active learning process combining personal experience and self expression in order to make this course the reason for a fresh start to new multiple ways of teaching art to children. Εxperiential and collaborative learning process, practical and theoretical learning activities will be the trigger of an innovative school.
By the end of this course participants will learn how to improve their own creative attitude, how to help kids express their feelings and thoughts as well as further themselves through the art of scenography. They will learn how to combine art theory and practice within the context of an innovative way of learning. What we are looking for is imagination, teamwork and creativity.

This course is aimed at educators in primary school, art teachers, artists, parents and everyone who is interested in expanding their imagination and creativity in order to contribute to a kids’ development.

Description
During the course, participants will get to experience the importance of a scenographer throughout different activities. The goal of the various approaches and techniques is for teachers and learners to understand that scenography can be a medium to an amazing journey in which along with their kids or their students can express themselves, take responsibilities, debate, create and expose themselves into different cultural activities and theoretical approaches. Workshops will be a big part of the process in order to gain confidence in the way of teaching as well as teaching your students how to be confident themselves.
Objectives
- Organize classes, projects and lessons using different learning means to enhance creativity in students
- Understand the basic concepts of creativity and creation
- Combine different techniques for developing creative lessons
- Enhance creativity skills in classroom
- Organize a scenography laboratory in school
- Organize cultural activities outside of school
Methodology
This 5-day course will focus on the techniques and theory through practice in the way we are using scenography as a way of teaching kids how to believe in themselves, develop their skills and how to act as a member of a team.
Each teaching day consists of a theoretical talk and a practical workshop. Workshops are designed to put into practice the elements discussed and taught in the theoretical part.
Attendees will receive handouts and self-evaluation forms as well as feedback forms on the course itself.

Day 1
- Welcoming and Introduction of the course programme
- Presentation of participants
- Ice-breaking activities
- What do we mean by scenography?
- Can we bring it to school? Why?
- Exploring the pedagogical dimension of teaching scenography at school
Day 2
- Creativity: ‘Do schools kill creativity?’
- Definitions and principles of creativity
- Conventional Vs unconventional thinking
- Creativity in the classroom: ART tools and scenography techniques to boost students’ potential
- An experiential workshop on Scenography basics
Day 3
- Study visit: (depending on time of season: open ancient Greek theatre or a contemporary theatre)
- In-site workshop on scenography
- Scenography and Art: a fresh start to new multiple ways of developing cognitive and practical skills to children
- How to organize a scenography laboratory in school (hands-on activity)
Day 4
- Study visit: a site of cultural interest such Athens, Olympus etc and participation in an interactive workshop on how to organize an Art lesson outside the class.
- On the field activity: coming together to create, organize and implement cultural activities for students in the field, outside the school.
- Art and scenography to express feelings and emotions.
- Workshop: team projects preparation
