English is the most widely-used language in the world, in all aspects of communication whether spoken or written. For work, pleasure or study, the need to actively communicate in English is growing constantly and is based on increasing global connectivity and people’s desire to improve their life opportunities. Moreover, it is essential for education and all kinds of jobs whether government or private.

Therefore, good command of English language is very important for both career and education, as well as for communication in today’s globalized social and working environments. It is not just the question of staying competitive, but also of remaining relevant.

 

The course has been designed to help teachers with a A2 or B1 level of English to develop their communicative competence in English to allow them to interact with confidence in class and in everyday situations.

The course offers a combination of English-focused classes, workshops and field projects through which participants will also have the opportunity to get to know the Greek culture and bring real life to the classroom context.

Description

The aim of the course is to strengthen your English language skills, whether for personal or professional reasons.

With a experienced teachers, you will participate in task based learning (TBL) activities, in order to practice your English while familiarizing yourself with a new place.

Through this course you will have the opportunity to explore the local culture and history, engage in dialogue on topics of relevant interest to teachers, and gain confidence in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.

 

Objectives

  • Improve your English vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversational skills;
  • Participate in innovative Task based learning (TBL) activities;
  • Engage in local history and culture;
  • Meet colleagues from other countries around the world;
  • Acquire first-hand experience as a student to refresh your perspective as a teacher.

 

Methodology

A communicative approach to language learning enhanced by using real contexts, which in this case are Greek cities, will help participants to develop their communicative skills in a very natural way.

Participants will be invited to open their senses to the sights, smells and sounds of their surroundings.

Through group activities and field projects participants are encouraged to interact with each other and develop their communication skills in English.

During the delivery of the course, the participants will receive hard copy material, which will cover the content to be presented in all five (5) days of the seminar. The material will be presented in a form of Power Point (PPT) presentations, videos & animations. Moreover, the active involvement and hands on experience of the participants will be secured through various training tools, such as case studies, worksheets, scenarios & exercises. These training tools are necessary to ensure that the theoretical knowledge gained by the participants can be used in real life scenarios; an important aspect & added value for any training course.

At the final day of the course, the participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the information received and the experience gained in the specific field of study.

  • Identification of needs and goals for each participant and relevant populations.

  • Improving your English language skills
  • English grammar and conversation.

 

Day 3

  • (Continued) English grammar and conversation.

 

Day 4

  • Refining your English language skills
  • English grammar and conversation.

 

Day 5

  • Course closure and cultural activities
  • Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
  • Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
  • Excursion and other external cultural activities.
