Improving English Language Skills (A2, B1)

Some Intro

English is the most widely-used language in the world, in all aspects of communication whether spoken or written. For work, pleasure or study, the need to actively communicate in English is growing constantly and is based on increasing global connectivity and people’s desire to improve their life opportunities. Moreover, it is essential for education and all kinds of jobs whether government or private.

Therefore, good command of English language is very important for both career and education, as well as for communication in today’s globalized social and working environments. It is not just the question of staying competitive, but also of remaining relevant.

The course has been designed to help teachers with a A2 or B1 level of English to develop their communicative competence in English to allow them to interact with confidence in class and in everyday situations.

The course offers a combination of English-focused classes, workshops and field projects through which participants will also have the opportunity to get to know the Greek culture and bring real life to the classroom context.

Who is this course for

School principals & directors (primary & secondary), Teachers (primary & secondary), Academic staff (tertiary), Directors working in a multi-national environment, Managers, Team leaders and team members, Professionals interested in improving their English, Trainers delivering courses/workshops in English.

Description

Course lessons will be structured following the place-based learning as participants will be invited to join in interactive projects visiting places of cultural, historical, geographical, and environmental significance within the Greek heritage and contemporary way of life and use this as inspiration for creating learning content though context.

Our 7-day course, starting on Sunday and finishing on Saturday, gives a total of 40 hours for the implementation of the objectives and lessons, in connection with the “Quality standards for courses under Erasmus+ KA1”

Objectives

  • To help participants improve their language skills, especially oral fluency, and enable them to incorporate English into classroom situations and daily life.
  • To promote a European dimension in education to raise awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries.

Methodology

A communicative approach to language learning enhanced by using real contexts, which in this case are Greek cities, will help participants to develop their communicative skills in a very natural way.

Participants will be invited to open their senses to the sights, smells and sounds of their surroundings.

Through group activities and field projects participants are encouraged to interact with each other and develop their communication skills in English.

During the delivery of the course, the participants will receive hard copy material, which will cover the content to be presented in all five (5) days of the seminar. The material will be presented in a form of Power Point (PPT) presentations, videos & animations. Moreover, the active involvement and hands on experience of the participants will be secured through various training tools, such as case studies, worksheets, scenarios & exercises. These training tools are necessary to ensure that the theoretical knowledge gained by the participants can be used in real life scenarios; an important aspect & added value for any training course.

At the final day of the course, the participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the information received and the experience gained in the specific field of study.
